How to Choose the Right Corset

Corsets have been a popular fashion item for hundreds of years. They are usually worn to shape the body for aesthetic purposes. However most modern corsets are designed to mimic the look of traditional corsets without actually acting as one. Most modern corsets do not have much effect on the shape of the wearer. The most expensive types of corset are usually made by a corset maker and are tailored specifically for the individual.

When choosing a corset it is important that you take the following steps to insure that you get the best from your purchase.

1. If your going to be wearing your corset daily then try to avoid tight fitting items that will be rather uncomfortable and affect your breathing.

2. Why are you going to be wearing a corset? Is it for reshaping your figure? Then you might want to consider an item with reinforced boning and seaming.

3. Choose your fabric wisely. Corsets are usually available in many different types of materials. Satin is the most popular and available in a large amount of colours. For the plus-size woman, Leather can be more comfortable as it offers a bit of stretch.

4. Corsets are great at enhancing your cleavage, no matter what your cup size it. An over-bust corset supports the bust while giving the illusion of an ample cleavage. The woman with a larger bust may consider an under-bust corset as this option would be more comfortable but can minimise the bustline.

5. Corsets are usually sized to either bra of waist size. It is important to have an accurate measurement as to avoid any future uncomfort.

6. Consider your height when purchasing an over bust corset because if you are tall then you may need a "long" version.
