Everything has gone retro these days, and people are really loving it! Dress yourself from head to toe with so many looks from Greta Garbo through to Patti Smith depending on how daring your style is! You can even do 80's with shoulder pads and leggings, although we suspect that the ones embracing this can't remember the horror of the clothes the first time around! And now it seems that not even lingerie is safe from the retro invasion. Lingerie sets have a distinctly old fashioned glamour and appearance but thank god not feel, we don't want you squeezing yourself into a girdle with a bullet bra on, there is a reason why these models improved over time! When we say retro we mean a bra that has all the Hollywood charm of the 1940's and 50's but employs all of the modern technology that has been meticulously changed and enhanced over the last century. This took the bra from just a couple of handkerchiefs sewn together to a snug sensible and chic garment. Companies like Lejaby and Aubade have started making some brilliant retro styled bras that are fun and flirty, perfect for the modern woman.
Lejaby have taken influence from the fantastically cool and beautiful Josephine Baker, creating sexy bras and even a waspie to create a feminine curvy shape. The new lingerie sets have several different styles of pants to match the bra so you can create the look you want. Unlike the women of the 40's and 50's you can go as big or as small as you dare!
After the rich reds and purples that dominate the autumn winter collections of all the major designers it's interesting to see the development for the spring summer. Spring summer is always a much more challenging season to design for as so many of us stick to our smooth cups in nudes and white to wear under those strappy tops and white T shirts.
Just outside Paris lies the city of Chantilly, famed as the origin of the lace that bears its name. In reality, much of it was originally produced in Bayeux, France and Geraardsbergen, now in Belgium. That fame was well earned, not least because of the intricate design of this special material. Still, never mind the history lesson.
Not that long ago it was necessary for a lot of women to basically settle for what they could get in their nearby department store or specialty shop when it came to purchasing bras. This often meant not being able to uncover what they essentially wanted, and more importantly having to make do with a bra that was inadequately fitted. These days though it's different for the modern day woman, settling for a less than perfect fit or an less attractive bra should be a thing of the past, thanks to the range and choice of on-line bra sites, not to mention the actual ease of placing your order from the convenience of their own home!.
